« Back Launches Pre-analytical Lab Automation Systems in ACBI 2009 at Kochi Date: 07 November, 2009 Our odyssey in lab automation started in 1989 with Desk-top Analyser. In 1999 we entered the arena of High throughput Analysers with Olympus AU range. We grew with the market and then went on to set the benchmark for real High-throughput analysis. Having achieved this, it is only logical that we look at the remaining segments due for automation. Pre-Analytical segment: Last few years saw steady increase in test volumes all round, in India. This led to consolidation and gave rise to mega labs and laboratory chains with significant workload. As only analytical side of these Labs are automated pre-analytical zone evolved into a potential bottleneck for many of these high volume Labs. Even though labor is relatively cheap in India, assigning more personnel to this segment may not be the most prudent & realistic approach to this problem since ‘Error due to human factor’ is a reality. As it is, over 30% of errors in laboratory practice is attributed to pre-analytical zone. Having taken care of the need for accuracy, precision, speed & cost-effectiveness in the analytical zone, we felt that the time has come to take care of similar needs in pre-analytical zone. We are happy to announce that we can now make tube preparation at phlebotomy and sorting of sample tubes totally error-free and fast.
