Biochip Technology

EUROIMMUN has formulated a unique method, similar to the one used by the electronics industry in manufacturing electronic microchips.Cover glasses are coated with cells, tissue sections or other biological substances , machine cut to milimeter sized fragments (Biochips) . The Biochips are then glued onto a slide using a computer-controlled device.

    This test kit is designed for the determination of human antibodies of immunoglobulin class IgG against cell nuclei, mitochondria, and smooth muscles in patient samples for the diagnosis of many autoimmune diseases, particularly those of the rheumatic form.
    AMA, ASMA, anti-LKM, and ANA are of high importance in the diagnosis of autoimmune liver diseases. The combination of the IIFT substrates HEp-2 (HEp-20-10), kidney, liver, and stomach allow simultaneous detection of relevant antibodies.

  • ANCA
  • Each Slide containing combination of BIOCHIPs coated with granulocytes (EOH), HEp-2 cells + granulocytes (EOH) and granulocytes (HCHO)
    Granulocytes (EOH) helps in differentiating cANCA & pANCA
    Granulocytes (HCHO) helps in differentiating Typical pANCA or Atypical pANCA . Also, formalin fixation increases the specificity by 16% & sensitivity of AAV by 5%.
    HEp-2 cells + granulocytes (EOH) helps in understanding the cross-reactivity of ANA.

  • Liver
  • The mosaics provide the determination of human antibodies of immunoglobulin class IgG in patient samples to support the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), pernicious anemia, myasthenia gravis and rheumatic diseases.
    AMA, ASMA, anti-LKM, anti-SLA/LP and ANA play an important role in the diagnosis of AIH or PBC.
    The BIOCHIPS combination of IIFT substrates HEp-2, kidney, liver and stomach enable simultaneous detection of the relevant antibodies. Antibodies against SLA/LP, however, cannot be reliably identified on tissue sections. SLA/LP-transfected cells enable findings within the screening method.
    BIOCHIPs with tissue sections of the primate stomach enable the specific determination of antibodies against parietal cells (PCA).
    VSM47 cells A combination of the IIFT substrates stomach and VSM47 cells enables the differentiation of ASMA type actin and ASMA type non-actin simultaneously, in one incubation. Antibodies against striated muscles may indicate myasthenia gravis, however, only high antibody titers are diagnostically relevant.
    Up to 6 BIOCHIPS combination in a single test field is available. The BIOCHIP Technology enables different substrates to be combined in one test field (multiplex test) and incubated with one patient serum.

  • Mitochondria (AMA)
  • Antibodies against mitochondria (AMA) can be detected with various histological substrates as well as on HEp-2 cells. Frozen sections of kidney (rat) are used as the standard substrate for targeted detection of these antibodies.
    This test kit provides qualitative determination of human antibodies of immunoglobulin class IgG against cell nuclei (ANA) and mitochondria (AMA) in patient samples to support the diagnosis of many autoimmune diseases, rheumatic forms in particular incl. several forms of systemic lupus erythematosus, as well as lues, primary biliary liver cirrhosis (PBC) and other forms of hepatitis.

  • Smooth Muscle (ASMA)
  • Indirect immunofluorescence using frozen tissue sections of rat stomach is the gold standard in the specific determination of antibodies against smooth muscles (ASMA).
    The kit is designed for the determination of human antibodies of immunoglobulin classes IgG against smooth muscles in patient samples for the diagnosis of various liver diseases like autoimmune hepatitis, liver cirrhosis.
